This image shows a nice little pedestal crater atop lava in Athabasca Valles.

This feature might be able to tell us something about the history of mantling of the lava. The Athabasca Valles channel system of Mars has been the focus of much research and debate. In addition to lava flows, there is evidence of past aqueous activity.
